P.E. will be on a Monday. In a change to previous years, children will be coming into school in their kits ready for P.E. this will consist of a white t shirt, tracksuit bottoms and suitable footwear. A school jumper can still be worn for warmth. Your child will need a water bottle every day that they will be able to fill up from the Lower Junior fountain.

For home reading this year the following procedures will be put in place: Children will be given a reading book to take home on a Friday. Children will keep the book at home until the following Friday when they will deposit them in a box in the classroom. These won’t be touched for three days. This means a book cannot be returned on a different date, if a book is late, please wait until the following Friday. This is a fantastic opportunity to increase the range of books read for pleasure and you are more than welcome to record these books in the reading record. If you have any reading books sent home during school closures please send them back into school ASAP as we won’t be able to send books out till they are returned.

Homework will be set on Monday to be returned on Friday to allow for weekend isolation, again any late homework books will have to be returned to following Friday. We will endeavour to set as much homework online as possible. Look out for log in details for online access to new programs that will be sent out in the next few weeks.

Your child will also bring a spellings sheet which is to be kept at home. There will be a spelling test every Friday, with new spellings provided on the same day. The spellings will include 10 on a theme and 5 from the Year 3-4 key words list which I have attached to this letter. Year 3 children will be given a different times table to learn each week, tested on a Thursday.

I look forward to a successful year,

Mrs O
